Cannabinoid – A group of terpenophenolic compounds present in Cannabis that also occur naturally in the nervous and immune systems of animals. The three main cannabinoids are: THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (Cannabidiol) and CBN (Cannabinol).

Cannabis – A mildly euphoriant and intoxicating hallucinogenic drug such as hashish or marijuana prepared from various parts of a hemp plant.

Edibles – A food or beverage containing Cannabis. Potency varies considerably but edibles commonly take more time to set in and last longer than smokable forms of Cannabis.

Hydroponics (Hydro) – A method of growing that does not rely on a growing medium such as soil. Instead, the nutrition a plant would normally obtain from the soil is mixed into water in certain concentrations to allow for maximum growth.

Indica – A species of Cannabis that is usually associated with shorter, stouter plants that have short flowering periods and wider fingers on the leaves. Indicas are typically associated with a body stone (i.e. I’m stoned).

Potency – The strength of the Cannabis measured by the THC levels in the plant.

Pruning – The cutting and trimming of plants to remove dead/injured parts or control/direct new plant growth.

Sativa – A species of Cannabis that is usually associated with taller plants that have longer flowering periods and thinner fingers on the leaves. Sativas are typically associated with an energetic head high (i.e. I’m high).

Strain – A line of ancestry (or group of descendants from a common ancestor) that refers to the specific genetics of the plant (e.g. Northern Lights, Trainwreck, White Widow, Jack Herer, etc).

Trichome – The plant’s “skin” containing THC and other cannabinoids.
